Welcome to the 2012 PGA Tour Challenge

Welcome to the 2012 PGA TOUR Challenge Season. After four years, we have a new blog. I accidentally deleted the previous one but it was probably time to retire that one and start anew anyway. A few quick ground rules and most importantly the purse for 2012...

1.) Picks are due via e-mail before the first player tees off. I will do my best to reply with my pick but as long as your e-mail is time stamped before the first player tees off your pick is good. NOTE: If you're late the pick doesn't count. It doesn't matter if YOUR pick hasn't teed off, you could have a strategic advantage by waiting to send your pick.

2.) If your player WD's before starting, you can pick another player who has yet to tee off.

2012 Purse (Based on 42 players):

Cuts Made Streak to Open Season - $200
Weekly Winner's Pot - $370 ($10 per week carried over)

Regular Season 1st - $400
Regular Season 2nd - $300
Regular Season 3rd - $150
Majors Top Pick - $100

Playoff Champ + Perpetual Trophy - $500
Playoffs 2nd - $200
Playoffs 3rd - $100

Lastly, here's a picture of the 2011 champ Tim Baker Sr. with the trophy. Hopefully whoever wins will be able to play in our year end event at GCC in late October. We had a great turnout this year and will do it again following the 2012 season.

Let's post some advice in the comments area below for the five rookies joining the pool.

  1. My advise for rookies...

    1.) Pick a dude when he's hot. Don't wait.

2.) Picking a young guy where he played well the year prior (even defending champs) rarely works, most of these guys don't play well with expectations.

3.) You'll be shocked how many of the top players in the world MC. Don't pick a veteran at an event taking place immediately before a major. They don't care if they MC.

4.) Don't be surprised if you pick at least one guy who leads after day 1 and then misses the cut. See DL83 at Players.

  2. Eber rule definitely in effect. "Should you choose the same player twice, you will forfeit that week's earnings."

Full rules will be posted in excel sheet for everyone's benefit. I didn't want to post here so someone can rip-off the best golf pool in the world!
