Season Long Standings...
Here are updated season long picks standings. Remember, this is winner take all. $140 to winner. Interesting note, nobody has more money in this than they do in the regular pool BUT it's close for some and the year long didn't count the automatic money Hyundai to start the season...

Travelers Championship Update...
First let's celebrate Ken Duke's achievement. 44 years old and first win on the PGA TOUR. Hats off, err visors off. Ditto to Chris Stroud for holing out on 18 to force the playoff. Now on to some Bubba and Hunter hating. I said it on Thursday when I sent out the picks. Underachieving is their specialty. How many of you are loving those stellar weekend finishes? Bubba (70-70), Hunter (70-73). I know they firmed up the course this year and scores weren't nearly as low but come on!
I try not to hate but why do you think Bubba has lived in 3 new towns in 3 years? If you fit in and people like you and vice versa, you don't move 3 times in 3 years. You heard it on the broadcast on Saturday, even CBS guys had a hard time covering up for him. WASTED TALENT. There is nothing I despise more in pro sports. Maybe I shouldn't care because he's not on my team, he's just wasting his own talent. Feel free to chime in below with your thoughts...
Last comment, how about those red umbrellas? Great on-course branding!

US Open Recap
This kind of feels like the year that Tom Watson lost in the playoff to Stewart Cink. 94% of the golf world was pulling for Phil to win but a really good guy ended up winning. Justin Rose is a good person and he's paid his dues too. I'm not sold on the setup of the course, especially 18. If the best players in the world can't make a birdie over two days that's a bit too much. Wonder if Phil wishes he had the driver in the bag yesterday as he walked to 18?
Other random thoughts after viewing the final round nearly start to finish with the leaders...
Hunter Mahan after hitting driver on Par 3 loudly on live TV... "I hit a F#*$ing driver on a par 3!?" -- no, not really you hit a huge weak fan job.
Steve Stricker made a great 8 on that par 5. Is that possible? I mean a 1 putt 8 after hitting 2 balls out of bounds. Doesn't the USGA's equitable stroke index allow him to write down a 7 and move on?
I really thought Phil was going to hole that chip on 18 but you knew he wasn't going to make par. It was either going in or he was going to T-2 costing lost of you money in the pool.
The USGA got VERY lucky they didn't have a delay. There would have been no time to finish it as they were pushing up to sunset. I was shocked they didn't start the final round at least 1 hour earlier.
Still not a fan of the wicker baskets at the U.S. Open. Is it neat? Yes. Do they need to bow down to Merion's membership for the U.S. Open? No, I don't think so, especially since they didn't sell any replicas or minis.
I like to watch the Masters more because the final round doesn't look like my regular Saturday game. I'd rather see some guys have a chance to make birdies. Think about how much more exciting the finish was this year at Augusta vs. Merion. El Pato making that 3 to tie Scott after he thought it was over. As it turns out Phil had a 0 for 146 chance.
As for our pool, those who picked Graeme McDowell got relatively luckly. There were five who either picked Jason Day or Phil but it could have been worse. Admit it Greg, you picked Jason Day and were rooting hard for Phil to chunk that chip on 18!
We do have a new leader in Mrs. King and several others who jumped into the top 10. Here are the updated standings...

The Players Update...
Tiger wins... Again. And he did it using a 5 wood. That's just showing off at this point isn't it?
A few additional notes...
Poor Sergio. Seriously, I almost felt bad for him. This guy is as fragile as Jay Cutler and Dwight Howard combined but we've had to watch it for almost 15 years now. I hope he does win a major someday he's too talented not to.(Did you feel bad - VOTE for Sergio).
Lingmerth showed some serious stones but you have to question the aggressive run at the putt on 18. If it was Furyk, McDowell or somebody else who was more accomplished yes, they don't care about spending coin if they run it past. Yes he was playing with house money and really wanted to hole the putt to tie Tiger but the dude's 3 putt cost him about $400,000 by not finishing solo second.
As for the pool, Mike Hubbard had Tiger solo and moved up 20 spots! Besides that it was feast or famine as many netted $100K+ but there were also 16 MC's.

Wells Fargo Update...
Has a tourney every fallen so far so fast? Horrible greens, players WD'ing, terrible weather and a bad date now prior to the Players. I would sell stock if I owned it in this event. Hopefully it's a one year fluke but I'd be very anxious if I were running that event. This used to be a top 3 tourney outside of WGC and majors.
How about Derek Ernst. Not only was this just his 9th PGA TOUR start, he was ranked 1,200+ in the world! Let me repeat, 1,200+ in the world. I'm pretty sure there are high school golfers ranked higher. The picks were fairly solid again this week, I'm sure several were disappointed that Phil couldn't close the deal. When you hit 50% of the greens and 30% of the fairways most guys are MC'ing. Phil was leading with 2 holes left.

Zurich Update...
The Billy, Billy, Billy Zurich update. Apparently the signs were there because nine of you picked Billy Horschel to win. I know he's battled injuries but he broke through in a huge way this weekend.
I love it when any guy under 25 wins now, the media instantly expects him to be the next great one. Heard it with Henley too in Hawaii, "there's something about this guy's make up." Well there are about 25 of them now under 30 who could be the guy. Who wants to keep working hard and actually be the next young one to win multiple majors and dominate? VOTE TO THE RIGHT. Maybe it won't happen, maybe there is too much balance. I don't know the answer, but I'm thankful the men's game doesn't appear to be in danger of being taken over by the Korean's like it has with the women.
Aside from the 9 guys picking Horschel I just want to take a minute to head off any allegations that I created the alias of Bill Horton to rig the pool. Horschel was his 3rd winning pick of the year and has built a fairly sizable lead in the standings. Rookie, quit making it look so easy.

RBC Heritage Update...
Didn't see enough of the golf to comment intelligently on this week's tourney. What I do know is we've had an amazing two weeks of picks. Last week at the Masters nobody picked a player who missed the cut. This week at the RBC only one pick missed the cut. This is almost unprecedented in the pool's history. Nobody had G-Mac, top picks were Streelman and Donald.
