Pebble Beach Update

Poor Phil. Well not really, he still has a handful of majors, a G6 and a good looking family. Would have at least liked some free golf on a cold South Carolina day. Good to see Vaughn Taylor get another win and a trip home to Augusta in April.

Lots of really good picks this week with the big names delivering solid finishes. We did have a couple more drop out of the cuts made streak and are down to 12 players left, eight of which are outside of the top 10.

Time for a pep talk (for me really) for some and a reality check for others. We're just six regular season tourneys into the season. That is only 1/6 of the regular events (30 total) we pick, not to mention the four majors where nearly 1/2 the money is won. It's a long season, here is what it took to make the playoffs the past 4 seasons...

2012 - $5.4 million
2013 - $7.9 million
2014 - $7.3 million
2015 - $11.5 million

Bottom line, there is a long way to go so don't go sending me a Jordan Spieth or Jason Day pick anytime soon.

Hideki > High Tops

Hideki outlasts Richard in a playoff. Apparently those dudes didn't realize there was a Super Bowl to be played. Seven people picked Hideki and take home $6 for the winner's pot.

Nick, Rob, Mark, Chris -- maybe we can start a losers bracket now? We're getting trounced by the field!

Farmers Insurance Open

I think State Farm should have stepped in as title sponsor yesterday as mayhem ensued at the Farmers. Holy cow. Not sure where to start or finish but the bottom line is that 16 people picked Brandt Snedecker -- including Russ Tigue who has picked two winners in a row. Rare is the day in this pool's history that the most obvious choice wins -- especially if it isn't a top 3 player in the world not named Woods, McIlroy or Spieth. Hats off to Sneds though, the dude shot a final round 69 with one bogey when most guys averaged seven and most of them didn't even finish their rounds.
There are a lot of D-Bags that are easy to root against but in my book Sneds is not on that list so props to those who picked SNEEEEDECKER.

While those 16 Sneds lovers were enjoying the rest of the field folding up like a Yugo hitting a F-150 head on, 20 others in the pool picked dudes who either missed the cut or made less than $30,000. There were many who dropped out of the cuts made streak with the MC's by Phil and Bill. The chart is updated, there are now less than 20 left in the cuts streak just three tourneys in.

Career Builder Challenge

Not sure how many of you saw the playoff (I didn't) but it appears there was another exciting finish at the Career Builder. I did see Dufner's rocky par on 17 that helped him get to the playoff -- LUCKY break!

Big Joe Eber and Russ Tigue both picked Dufner and split the $60 winning pot. We'll start over at $20 this week at Torrey. Perhaps just as impressive as the Dufner pick both Cale Harbin and John Doyle picked David Lingmerth.

Updated standings (note where it says NA that is someone who is tied with the place above). Another week or two and the handy spreadsheet will fix itself.

Sony Update

Mike, Bill and Ryan are off to a good start with the same picks in Patrick Reed at Hyundai and Brandt Snedecker at the Sony. On the other end we had a record 11 players knocked out of the cuts made streak with either NP or MCs.

Perhaps most importantly, yesterday we were able to capture a photo of the 2015 champion Joe Eber. The photo to the right was taken at SLOW's in Detroit, possibly the classiest place we've captured the winner's photo in tourney history.

Reminder: League dues must be paid before your pick will be accepted this week. Below is your paid / entry fee status. You owe the total stated.
