Waste Management Update...

Phil and Tiger with back to back wins? What year is this? Hopefully they can keep it going, it's good for golf. The guy who spends the most time breaking down his picks every week had Phil, congratulations Mr. Barnes on your $40 solo winner! He moves from 41st to 3rd place. That should give the bottom feeders (B Jones) hope. Rookies, keep in mind a major win is worth about $3 million, it really does come down to the majors in this pool.

A handful of others picked Snedecker and jumped into the top 10. Rickie and Dufner helped knock a few more out of the cuts made streak, we're down to just 9 left.

Also, not to poke fun but to clarify a rule. Mr. Marksamer picked Webb Simpson who wasn't in the field. He CAN use him again later. The only way you lose a player is if he tees off then WD's.

Sony Update...

Impressive first start as a TOUR member for Russell Henley. I don't think I've ever seen a rookie close like that down the stretch. Tim Clark hits his ball inside Henley four straight times and Henley makes the birdie before Clark gets to putt. Amazing stuff, even Johnny Miller was impressed. Speaking of impressive, how about the start by Russ Tigue? He picked DJ last week and CH3 this week to jump into the lead. Five others had Tim Clark each of them moves into the top 15. On the other end of the spectrum, 14 people are out of the cuts made streak thanks to the likes of Mark Wilson and Zach Johnson among others.

Here are the updated standings heading into the new Billy Tourney...

Hyundai Tourney of Champions

Look out PGA TOUR in 2013. It appears Dustin Johnson is taking the game seriously again. Six practice rounds means he's either ready to step it up or he found some contraband on the back nine somewhere. He also apparently picked up an additional trophy before the season - The Great One 2.0. If your heart is like Brent Musburger's, I wouldn't click here to check here to check her out.

As for our pool, Greg, Troy and Russ are off to a hot start with picks of DJ. No fret newcomers if you didn't make a great pick. There have been several years where players pick a winner the first week and don't make the playoffs. Vice versa for those making bad picks as well.

Cinderella Story...

Brian Marchant moved up from seventh to win the PGA Challenge Championship! Tom Roberts jumped from 10th place to finish second. Both picked Brandt Snedecker and the remainder of the field didn't have three horses to make up the difference. Don Adams holds on for third place.

Another great year and the trophy will be etched with a new name and be ready for presentation at our October 28 golf outing. We have eight signed up now, please let me know if you'd like to join us. Last year we had a great time.

Brian Marchant - $2,035,200 - $580
Tom Roberts - $1,890,080 - $212
Don Adams - $1,451,560 - $428
Patrick King - $1,347,848 - $35

Holy Rory!

Wow, I didn't see any of it but I was surprised he won again. I guess we shouldn't be, this guy is in charge. I don't recall us going into the final event without at least one person over $1M. Usually there is a clear cut leader and everyone has to get inventive with their three picks. In this case you probably just need to get the winner (hoping the three at the top don't pick him) and two other top 10's to steal this thing. You have two weeks to figure out your strategy.

MORE ON RORY...
After quick review of what these two playoff wins mean to Rory and his chances of winning $10M in the finale w/o doing much work. Well you'd be surprised to find out, he may finish 2nd or 3rd and still NOT win it. Kind of nuts, but I think it does make it a bit more exciting. The PGA tries to equate it to other playoffs but I'm pretty sure most "teams" that enter the fourth event (err game) having won 2 of the first 3 would at least get a game 5. In golf where these guys are beating fields of 100+ twice in a row, I think he should almost have this wrapped before teeing. Oh well, it's better than when Vijay just had to finish the tourney to win the first one.

Deutsche Bank Championship

Enjoyable golf viewing today save for the part when NBC tried to make Charley Hoffman's back nine 47 into the most important round of golf since the 1947 U.S. Open. I haven't heard NBC hype up something that lame since well, this week's Notre Dame / Purdue game.

On to this week's picks. There is good news and bad news. There are no more cuts this year, BUT that also means Don will be adding to his leading money total so to catch up you're going to have to make a really solid pick. Patrick made the best pick of the week (Snedecker) moving him into second and Don also had a solid pick in Adam Scott. Three more people found out that Bubba is not committed to golf right now.

Everybody is definitely still in this with four total picks remaining.

Don Adams - $722,000
Patrick King - $448,888
John Barnes - $321,300
Brian Marchant - $145,600
Greg Adams - $75,526
Mike Jones - $56,700
John Reilly - $21,080
Nick Eber - $18,826
Jennifer King - $17,280
Tom Roberts - $17,280
